Foundation Certificate in Jazz
The
Foundation Certificate in Jazz consists of 18 weeks of full-time study to a total
value of 72 NZSM points. While the Foundation Certificate in Jazz does not give
credit to the BMus it may facilitate entry to it. Admission to study towards a
degree on completion of the Foundation Certificate in Jazz is considered on a
case by case basis.
This programme of study is designed to assist students in preparing for comprehensive
jazz study at tertiary level. The course will introduce you to basic musicianship,
jazz history, theory and improvisational skills as well as computer literacy skills.
You will also have individual tuition on your chosen instrument.
You must have completed Year 12 of secondary school or have equivalent life
experience. You will also be required to attend an audition in support of your
