Auditions

Application for Audition

Applications are now open.

Below are details of how to apply for an audition to study at the New Zealand School of Music.

An audition is required for the following:

Foundation Certificate in Jazz
Students applying for 100-level Classical Performance or Jazz Performance papers
Students transferring to NZSM from other institutions to take Classical Performance or Jazz Performance papers at any level
PostGradDip in Music Teaching
Master of Music Therapy

Links to the application forms for all of these can be found below, as well as documents outlining the audition requirements for the Classical and Jazz performance auditions. All the forms are PDF files for easy download.

Completed application forms should be sent with the application fee to the following address. Note: please indicate whether it is a Classical or Jazz application in the address as below (choose first study if applying for both)

DEADLINES

Classical: Applications for the classical performance programme for 2011 study have now closed. However, late applications will be considered. Please contact the Classical Performance Programme Administrator as soon as possible.

Jazz: Applications for the Jazz performance programme and the 1st semester Foundation Certificate in Jazz programme close on 13 September 2010, for 2011 study. Applications for the 2nd semester Foundation Certificate in Jazz programme close on 14 May 2010, for 2nd semester 2010. Late applications may be considered, depending on the availability of places.

Audition Dates

Foundation Certificate in Jazz (for 2nd semester 2010): Auditions will be held from 8 – 11 June 2010.

Classical performance (for 2011 study): Auditions will be held 24 August – 3 September 2010.

Jazz performance and Foundation Certificate in Jazz (for 2011 study): Auditions will be held 18 October – 21 October 2010.

We may also be offering auditions for orchestral instruments in Auckland and Christchurch. Please contact the Classical Performance Administrator via email for more information (see contacts below). Late auditions may be considered depending on the availability of places.
