Application for Audition

Below are details of how to apply for an audition to study at the New Zealand School of Music.

An audition is required for the following:

• Foundation Certificate in Jazz
• Students applying for 100-level Classical Performance or Jazz Performance papers
• Students transferring to NZSM from other institutions to take Classical Performance or Jazz Performance papers at any level
• Master of Music Therapy

Links to the application forms for all of these can be found below, as well as documents outlining the audition requirements for the Classical and Jazz performance auditions. All the forms are pdf files for easy download.

Completed application forms should be sent with the application fee to the following address.
Note: please indicate whether it is a Classical or Jazz application in the address.

AUDITION DATES

Classical performance (for study in 2012):
Auditions for Classical Performance will take place during August 23 – September 4 (early auditions) and October 17 – 21 (main audition period). If you are in Wellington for NYO or the NZSM Open Day, we may be able to arrange an audition whilst you are here.

Applications to audition for our Classical Performance programme during the main audition period in October close on Monday 12 September.
For an audition in the early audition period, please contact the Classical Performance Administrator as early as possible.

Late auditions, after the October round, may also be possible: please contact the Classical Performance Administrator before submitting your application form.

Some NZSM classical staff may be visiting Auckland, Christchurch and Dunedin to audition.
Please indicate if you wish to be considered for an audition in Auckland, Christchurch or Dunedin by contacting the Classical Performance Administrator.

Jazz performance and Foundation Certificate in Jazz (for 2012 study):
Applications for our Jazz Performance and Foundation Certificate programmes close on Monday 12 September.

Auditions will take place from Monday 17th October – Friday 21st October. If you would like to audition earlier than this please contact the Jazz Programme Administrator.

Late auditions for both Classical and Jazz Programmes may be available. Please contact the appropriate Programme Administrator.
