Recording Studios
Recording facilities of a high standard are available at both Kelburn and Mt
Cook campus. The recording studio at Kelburn Campus is adjacent to the Adam Concert
Room and is suitable for recording classical music and chamber orchestra. It can
be used for up to 8-track recording, has a small selection of fine microphones
(Neumann/AKG), has basic video recording facilities and has been used to record
commercial CDs over the past few years: e.g. John Psathas CDs, Waiteata Music
Press CDs and the recent releases by Chrome. The senior technician is Roy Carr.
The recording studio at Mt Cook is adjacent to the Conservatorium Concert Hall.
This recording studio is well equipped with both audio and visual recording facilities.
A versatile studio, it can record both classical and jazz music. It has been used
extensively to record CDs of NZSM staff as well as the annual Conservatorium of
Music CD, showcasing impressive performances by students.
