Practice Facilities

Kelburn Campus has fourteen practice rooms, a drum studio and harp room which may be booked from week to week by students enrolled in music courses at the NZSM. Mt Cook campus has fourteen small practice rooms, a drum studio, four combo rooms and six studios which may be booked from week to week by students enrolled in music courses at the NZSM. It is also possible to book larger rooms, namely Room 209, 211 or the Adam Concert Room, when these are not required for class teaching or other group activities.

Practice rooms at the NZSM must be booked in advance. Each performance student is entitled to a maximum of two hours in a practice room a day. While performance students are given priority, a certain number of hours per week are reserved for students of composition, musicianship and musicology. You can access practice rooms after hours using your NZSM swipe card.
